Most people will really be pissed about this post but it’s the truth. We’re constantly eating, deny it, criticize me or accept it. We always relate food to enjoyment, if we are eating, then we are enjoying. It’s so serious that even kids are thinking the same way. Some parents believe that taking their kids to fast food is a good way of having fun or showing them love. They’ve forgotten that kids can enjoy going to the park or playing games. The issue is that these kids have also come to believe that visiting fast food joints are parent’s expression of love and the only way of having fun. This mentality has left most kids obese or unfit.

Losing weight is difficult for adults; imagine how it will be for a kid. Have they (parents) considered what these overweight kids pass through in school? From name callings to bullying and having no friends at all. Some of these kids resolve to emotional eating, comforting themselves with food or withdraw from the environment, which might affect their grades and concentration in school. Emotional eating is common, comforting ones self with food regardless of the events happening, we should eat to fuel my body, and not because food is available or because we can afford to buy it.

Some so-called high and mighty in the society relates food to enjoyment. They’ve totally forgotten what eating balance meal is. Eating balance meal is not about consuming a plate full of meat or pastries. Being rich/wealthy isn’t an avenue to abuse food or your body. You see them proudly carrying around extreme potbellies year in, year out.

Another category are the ‘EAT ALL YOU CAN’ -You don’t have to eat every food at a party or finish a plate of food given to you just to have a feeling of enjoyment or that you weren’t cheated out (I can’t even laugh). Young people are dying. Mostly associated with cardiovascular diseases, and not witches/wizards from the village. According to MAYOCLINIC, “cardiovascular disease can refer to different heart or blood vessel problems, the term is often used to mean damage to your heart or blood vessels by atherosclerosis (ath-ur-o-skluh-ROE-sis), a buildup of fatty plaques in your arteries. Plaque buildup thickens and stiffens artery walls, which can inhibit blood flow through your arteries to your organs and tissues. Atherosclerosis is also the most common cause of cardiovascular disease. It can be caused by correctable problems, such as an unhealthy diet, lack of exercise, being overweight and smoking”.

We eat too much and move less. Recently, many people are waking up to the importance of making healthier food choices and exercising.
